Engraving Services

The majority of engraving is done in our workshop. If you need something we can't do in-house then we'll find someone who can.

  • Flast-bed engraving

Flat-bed engraving is availale for salvers, metal plates and pretty much anything else that is flat. We use diamond-drag for most of our flat bed engraving. The finished engraving can be natural or it can have a black finish.

Note that we use a trusted third-party provider for items larger than A4.

  • Rotary Engraving

Our U-Marq rotary engraving machine is able to take items up 254mm (10”) in diameter, and up to 406mm (16”) in length (depending on item).

It is idea for engraving trophies, tankards and glass (see sand blasting). It is a four axis machine that can engrave on surfaces that curve in two directions (like cups and glasses).

We have the choice of diamond-drag and rotating cutters with this machine.

Don't worry if your item is too big for our machine. We have a trusted engraver who can do the engraving for us.

  • Sand Blasting

Sand Blasting gives the best finish when dealing with glasware and awards. (We actually use fine grade aluminium oxide powder rather than sand as it gives a much better finish.)

This is ideal for glass awards, decanters, bottles, glasses and mirrors.

  • Sublimation Printing

Pair text with an image to focus on your chosen product, collection, or blog post. Add details on availability, style, or even provide a review.

Artwork

The atrwork for engraving can be as simple as chosing a font type and font size for few words on a flat plate, or as complex as turning a one-off design into an engravable file. The most important part of this process is to make sure that we get it right.

We have a formal process in place to make sure our engraving is exactly what you wanted.

1. Initial Discussion
During the initial discussion we can talk about the award to want us to engrave, and you can describe what you would like us to engrave onto it. We'll include our estimate for preparing the artwork as a separate line on the estimate.

2. Agree the Artwork

The next step is for you to send us the artwork you want us to engrave either as text, a photograph or even a sketch. If you don't have the artwork then we can create some examples for you.

3. Sign-Off

Once you have agreed the estimate we will go ahead and create the engravable files and then send them back to you for approval. It is important that you check our artwork carefully. You may have some queries about the artwork, you may want some changes made to the design or you may have spotted an error. If necessary, we'll update the artwork and send it back to you for review.  We will not start the engraving process until the artwork has been approved.

The review and sign-off is very important. Never assume that what we send is correct - make sure you check it. If you do spot something you will be very glad you did (and so will we).

4. Payments

For on-line purchases that do not require finishing you can pay for the items at the checkout. Note that VAT will be added to the price of each item at that point.

Alternatively you can discuss your order and your finishing requirements with us, receive a quote and then receive an invoice from us for payment. You can then pay by Bank Transfer, or call us to pay by card over the phone.
